The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has issued a strict directive to all its employees, both gazetted and non-gazetted, to maintain the prescribed uniform during office hours and while performing official duties.

The circular, dated 12 August 2025 and signed by Registrar General (Officiating) M.K. Sharma, stated that many officers and staff members were attending duties in casual dress, which was creating indiscipline and affecting the smooth functioning of the court.

The order clearly mentions that personal staff, employees in the IT section, eCourts, orderlies, ushers, drivers, and other categories must strictly adhere to the uniform rules.

"Non-compliance with the prescribed uniform norms shall be viewed seriously and may invite disciplinary action," the circular warned.

The court also directed all controlling officers to ensure strict enforcement of these instructions. The circular has come into effect immediately and applies across all sections of the High Court in Jammu, Srinagar, and Ladakh.
